Jack Tar Bar Soi 6 Pattaya

Jack Tar bar Pattaya

The Jack Tar Bar is the oldest Bar in Soi six in terms of being in the hands of the same owner. Unlike the other bars in Soi 6 the Jack Tar is not a bar. Its a bar for meeting, drinking and watching the word go round - or as the case is usually eyeing up the girls opposite at Red Point.

Review of this bar coming soon.

A short comment on the conflicting reports.. As I have stayed many many times at the jack tar it may put off a fellow yank like me (esp if your not navy or from the sea) the regs , Bruce and their staff have a sailors tongue and a dry Witt. without a smile I'm greeted at the bar with "you again... what do want?" I tell her "if your spindly legs can still support your ever increasing ass... fetch me a bear like a good soi dog" this gets me a smile and a chuckle. Its not that ppl are reporting on different staff just that ex marine and navy uk reg's have trained the staff to give as good as they get ;) it is my starting point on almost every day in pattaya so if your easily offended or do not relish arguing over a point of history for 2 hrs with bruce,
maybe you should avoid it.

Jack Tar Bar
Highlander
The Jack Tar Bar is one of my day time hang outs when I am in Pattaya so I am knowledgeable about it.

I have read some of the comments and just wanted to correct some misconceptions.

The JT bar is a favorite hang out of many regulars to Pattaya as well as the expat community.

The day manager is Bruce, a retired sea captain who is originally from New Zealand and is a close friend of Alan who owns the Clansman Bar.

I found them to be friendly and a good source of general info about Pattaya.

The menu is not bad and has the usual farang food you would expect at a fair price.

The beers from memory were about Bt65 for a San Mig lite so not too pricey as the average price on Soi 6 for the same beer is Bt85.

The bar opens about 10:30 - 11am and you can order breakfast or just a toastie if you want.

I like the bar as it is a hassel free non girly type bar and I like to watch the world going by.

Definitely worth a visit.

yes the people who frequent this bar are a bit different, and there is an association between the owner of this bar and that of the Clansman [over the road] which dominates the larger area of the outside bar,if you are not wanting to join that clique you will be ignored....however persist with the bar staff and you will get good cold drinks when you want them, also the cook really is a darling when you get to know her and produces some very good tasty food.

Was a Good Place
I use to go to this bar about every day in the early 2000's and have meals and beer and watch the street happenings. Then something happened as the staff became cold unsmiling and were not very cooperative. I had never related to the owner, but never had a problem with him or any one else in the place, yet I started to feel unwelcomed in the place even though there were never any words spoken to me or by me to any of the staff. It just seemed to become a place that I did not want to go any longer. It may just be me but that is how I felt and have not been back there for at least 4 years and a few months back I returned to drink a few beers and see there had been a change and there was not, the same non-smiling bar tender who I felt she was doing me a favor to serve me a beer. This is not a put down of the place I use to really like the food there and is why I returned so often.

A good bar to drink and eat in.
They also do cheap large rooms upstairs.
A good place to stay on soi6.

Jack Tar Pattaya
Very popular drinking bar. I understand it is the oldest bar still running in Soi 6. Check it out if you want a hassle free drink or two. Has good views over the road to Red Point and Nightwish.
